Dear Saints:

I bring you greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.  This correspondence comes to you at the request of the Adjutant General, Bishop Matthew Williams. 

It is with great regret that I inform you of the passing of Bishop W. L. Porter, who went home to be with the Lord early this morning April 11, 2009, in Memphis, Tennessee.   As a former General Board Member and the current Prelate of the Central Tennessee Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, he will be sorely missed but we find comfort in knowing that earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal; and the scripture declares that there remaineth a rest for the people of God.  The Porter Family is in need of our fervent prayers at this time. The Adjutant General wishes to extend an invitation to all in the National Adjutancy, to pause and pray for the Porter family throughout this week.
